Intern and Trainee Programs

Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services (BHCS) provides comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder services through County-operated programs and a network of contracted, community-based organization (CBO) providers.

Our mission is to maximize the recovery, resilience and wellness of all eligible Alameda County residents who are developing or experiencing a serious mental health, alcohol or drug concern.

Services are provided through four Systems of Care: Children and Youth; Transition Age Youth (TAY); Adults and Older Adults. These services are offered by multidisciplinary staff that includes: Psychiatrists; Psychologists; Social Workers; Marriage and Family Therapists; Registered Nurses; Interns and Trainees.

Intern and Trainee opportunities are available to graduate and post-graduate students in each System of Care and located within County-operated and contracted CBO settings.

We offer many internship opportunities in a variety of settings. Some opportunities are in community-based clinics, which serve children, youth and adults. Other opportunities are with units and programs that serve specialized populations of youth and adults throughout the County. Several internships are located within culturally specific CBO providers.

The BHCS Intern/Trainee opportunities available for the 2011-2012 School Year are listed below. You will find more detailed information on specific internships by clicking on the program links. To apply or receive additional information, contact the coordinator listed for each program.

These internships/traineeships may be paid or unpaid based on agency funding. These positions do not automatically lead to employment.
